At Athena we try very hard to create an atmosphere of health. One of the ways we do this is by bringing in natural or “eco-friendly” products. What makes natural beauty products different from the traditional? Although varying degrees of “greenness” exist, here are some of the top key benefits you can be assured of.

The products are typically free of petrochemicals (petroleum), sulfates and parabens, artificial colors, fragrances or preservatives. Not only is there less worry for allergic and chemical reactions, what is washed away won’t be as harmful to our land and water. These cleaner ingredients also mean cleaner manufacturing and less toxins and pollutants are created during this process. Some companies have gone as far as using strictly solar and wind power and even print in vegetable based ink! Products are also often distributed with very little marketing or packaging costs and with costs often brought down to a minimum, you get what you pay for in product not packaging. But speaking of packaging, recycled material is used more and plastics and other harmful material are almost rarely used and then in very small doses which reduces the need for new raw material and waste sent to landfills. And finally there is no animal testing or animal by-products using only plant based ingredients and cover every area of “eco-friendly” by being cruelty free. You can rest easy knowing the products are tested on people not animals!

No matter what your reason for choosing to use natural or organic beauty products, know that in helping yourself , you are helping Mother Nature too!
