The word “detoxifying” is a popular one. You’ll find it in all the latest health and fitness magazines and blog posts. But, what the heck does detoxifying mean, and why do you need to do it? Those are good questions that can be answered with a bit of background information from your favorite Windsor spa.
Toxins are all around us. They’re in our water supply, they’re in the air, and they’re even in the food that we eat. A healthy lifestyle and a clean eating diet can definitely help get rid of some toxins, but you still have to do some of the work through various treatments. Why are toxins bad? Toxins can directly impact our internal organs, cause psychological angst like stress, anxiety, and depression, and even general nervousness. Yikes! Those are all things we could live without, right? So, let’s get down to it. Let’s crack open the various ways that we can start detoxifying our bodies.
Our bodies are pretty smart. Sweating is the most natural way to detoxify, and all you have to do is sit in a sauna or go for a really long bike ride. If you happen to live in a humid climate, don’t turn on the air conditioning right away during the summertime – sit outside and work up a bit of sweat, or walk around your home and do something that causes you to sweat. While it might seem kind of gross, sweat is actually good for you!
Massage is another excellent way to get rid of toxins. In fact, there are special massages that have been created just to release toxins from the body (and you can ask for this kind of massage from of our experts at Athena).
One of our last posts went over the effects and purpose of dry brushing, so think about giving that a shot. Getting rid of toxins through the dry brush method is a great way to help your circulation too.
Yoga does so many great things for the body, mind, and soul. If you find the right studio, you can dig into three-hour classes that force you to be in the moment, be present, and to sweat! Plus, the right yoga teacher will show you how to breathe properly, and deep breaths are essential to a life without toxins.
There’s a method of hydrotherapy that you can easily do in your shower to detox – let the hotwater run on you for thirty seconds, follow that with a cold-water rinse for thirty seconds, and repeat this cycle twice before jumping into bed. The hot and cold water will help your body eliminate some toxins.
Stress hormones are really bad things. You can get rid of some stress by booking a nice relaxing pedicure, manicure, or massage, or other spa services at Athena, Windsor spa. Or, you can ask us about any of our other options. Our goal is to help you relax when you visit, and that means that you will be able to get rid of some serious stress, and help your body detoxify.
We hope that we’ve cleared up what it means to “detoxify,” and that you try some of these methods. Of course, drinking tons of water daily and eating really well helps too. You can also try a juice cleanse or a doctor supervised fasting cleanse to really clean out your body. We can’t escape the toxins that surround us daily, but we can help our bodies get rid of them by doing as many things as possible to flush those toxins out.
Have you tried detoxifying? Do you have any questions about various methods? We’ll get to the bottom of those for you – just ask! In the meantime, make sure to call and book the stress-free spa services session at Athena – your favorite Windsor spa – that you definitely deserve!
